Netbook Reflection 2013

This is my third year using a netbook and I reckon my learning has gotten way better. Having it connected to the internet helps me a lot, because I have access to many more websites to help my learning and I can interact with friends during the weekends or holidays.

Having our netbooks connected to the internet have a positive and negative side.
POSITIVE- The positive side is that we can learn faster, better, and effectively with our netbooks. We also have access to share our learning with the world everyday. We can use Google to help us with our research, find interesting and new vocab and etc.
NEGATIVE- The negative side is that the internet can be slow at times and it may not work.
Other than that, having my netbook connected to the internet is an amazing way to learn.

I have learnt many things from my teacher, friends, people from outside of school, and of course myself. My teacher Ms Lagitupu shows me more learning websites like Studyladder and Sum-dog. These websites are fun and help me learn faster. When I use Google docs it can help me with my spelling and find new words to make my story sound more effective.

Using learn, create and share is really important to us. Its part of what we do on our netbooks. We like to learn more about our subject on Google, Wikipedia, or other websites. We then put all our learning into a Google doc, Google presentation, Picasa, Vimeo, Flickr and many more. Then we share it with our family, friends, classmates, teachers, basically the whole world.

Prize Giving 2013

Prize giving last night was a blast. I personally enjoyed it and im sure everyone else did as well. You could tell by the look on everyone's face. People laughing, smiling and dancing brought a smile to our friends, family, parents and teachers face. It was amazing to see people receive prizes and see their items. The great thing with our items was that all of them were different. There was dancing, a bit of acting, and singing.

In the end of the night I received five awards. One, citizenship for room 21. Two, school service award. Three, podcaster of the year. Four, PENN producer of the year. And my favourite one, Dux. I was really shocked when I found out that I got Dux. There are way other smarter people than me that could have gotten the award. But, Mr Burt informed me that I got it not just because I am in extension, but because I did well in my school work. I’m happy that I got those awards, and I am also happy that I made my mum proud. I'd like to congratulate everyone that got a prize. Especially Shoal who got 3rd place academics and Rita who got 2nd place academics. Girl power!

My favourite item that performed would be the year 6 item. They did a dance to three songs. My favourite song was their skrillex song. It was pretty buzzy. My brother was in that dance and it was funny watching him. The year 6 students are great at dancing and I can’t wait to see what they have to offer next year.

This is my last prize giving here at Pt England. I’ll probably come next year to support my brother. Prize giving this year was awesome and its one I will never forget it.

Year 8 Camp (Ashleigh, Makayla, Shoal and Me)

Shoal(Day 1): We spent 5 hours on the bus. In those 5 hours, we took an unnecessary walk on a dam. The teachers lied to us and said that we were going on a short bush walk when we got to camp Keswick. It ended up being 3.2km long and very tiring.

Makayla(Day 2): On day 2 we went to the Agrodome to see a sheep show and to see some farm animals. We also went to see a geyser called Lady Knox and the thermal pools.

Ashleigh(Day 3):On day 3 we were going to swim in the blue lake. It was cold but after a while I got used to it. After that we went to the hot pools and swam again. At the hot pools they had a trampoline the we could jump on to get higher while jumping in the pool.

Jasmine(Day 4):Day 4 we went to the luge were we went up the gondola. Going up the gondola was a bit boring because of the long ride up but the view was full of nature. Once we arrived up top we waited to go down the luge. The luge ride was fun.

Vivienne(Overall): To be honest our camp was alright. It was basically bootcamp. Everyday we would walk or run through the forest and it was not fun. And to top it all of, it was raining. But hanging out with friends was good. My highlight was definitely the Agrodome and the Luge ride.

Our Nations Children Movie Competition

Last Friday some students from our school went into town for a launch of our promotional movie competition. When we arrived we saw red carpet, paparazzi, and even the director of 'Shrek' and 'Narnia', Andrew Adamson. It was awesome. Our movie was shown to people from Wespac and some people from the Waitangi National Trust. It was even shown to the Governor General, Sir Jerry Mateparae. After that we had lunch. During lunch time we had the chance to mix and mingle with people. I even had the chance to be interviewed by one news with Gabriel. I was nervous at first but then I didn't really mind at all.

The launch was awesome! Hopefully schools enter this competition and they get to experience all the cool things we experienced.

Athletics 2013

Intro:

Athletics. We had athletics last week on Friday and it was awesome! All though the weather finished off with showers of rain and we didn’t get to finish off our relays, I still had fun. I enjoyed my time hanging out with my friends, trying my best in all the activities and seeing everyone with a happy and smiling face. Here is my highlight, lowlight and most interesting part of athletics.

Highlight:
My highlight of that day would be doing the sack race and tug-of-war with Jonty. Its always nice to try something different in athletics. Most people went all out, while the others like me just thought that, that activity was just to relax and play around. It was still fun to see everyone having a great time though. I also enjoyed hanging out with Mrs Tele’a who was the teacher for the year 8 girls. She gave us little treats that would help get our energy back up.

Lowlight:
My least favourite part of athletics was definitely sprints. Sprinting is not my favourite thing to do but I still gave it my all. In my first race I was pumped up and ready. I stood up and waited for my opponents to get ready as well. When all of a sudden “CLAP!!” I was not expecting the clapper to clap so early. But when it did, I realized I was still on the starting line and everyone was a head of me. I ran my hardest and catched up to some people. Unfortunately that wasn’t enough for me to qualify into the finals.

Interesting:
My most interesting part was watching the house relays. I cheered for my house colour, Matatua (Green). I looked at all of the racers and they were so focused. In the end of the race, Matatua (My House Colour) came 1st.

Day 3- Riverside Camp at Willow Park

I woke up to the sound of the bell. All I could hear was leaders yelling “GET UP! Everyone get up and go down stairs!” It took a while for everyone to come downstairs into the Rimu room. But once everyone was in the Rimu room we were told what today’s fitness was. The thought of climbing the stairs kept going through my mind, but luckily for us today wasn't the day. “Viv, Ata and Brooklyn. Can you get the Cyber Coach set up in the gym?” Mr Burt asked. We replied with a yes and ran to the gym. Everything was set up and soon everyone walked in ready to get warmed up for the day!

Time flew by quickly. We finished everything, fitness, breakfast, washing up and our duties. The first fun activity for today was playing with the Willow Park toys. I knew everyone was waiting for this part of camp. There are lots of exciting toys to play with like the scooters, bikes, green machines, but my favourite the quad bikes! Since there were a lot of teams we had to be paired up with another boys team. Our team, P.O.B, was paired with the O.D’s (Original Dude’s) led by Ryan and David. I’m sure everyone enjoyed their time playing on the Willow Park toys.

After playing on the toys we had dinner. Then we had concert practice. We had to practise really hard because we were performing tomorrow. I was sooo nervous because my team wasn't even half way there. They didn't know where to stand, the actions and even the words. My team worked hard till the end though and we ended up finishing everything. Im so proud of my team :)

Highlight for day 3 was definitely our Super Disco. Firstly, I would like to give a huge thank you to Mr & Mrs Samuel for the fabulous disco. Everything was superb! Lights, decorations and the funky music. Thank you! There was something different about this disco though. If you were tired of dancing you could play the game that was being played at the same time of the disco. In the beginning though, we were put into three teams. Smugglers, Buyers and The Cops. I was in the Buyers team!!! So for the smugglers to win they would have to find a buyer and sell their Diamond. The buyers are doing the exact thing except instead of selling the diamond they are trying to buy one. Then they would have to safely get back to their corners and that is one point.  The cops on the other hand have to try and catch a person with a diamond. If the cop catches someone and that person does not have a diamond, that cop would have to stay in jail for one minute. But, if the person did have a diamond, the cops would get one point and the person with the diamond had to stay in jail for a minute. This game is hard because you don’t know who is who. You may think someone is a buyer but they might actually be a cop. My team the Buyers came 1st. It was loads of fun!

The disco was finally over. It felt really short. Well, to me it did. I was just happy because I had lots of fun playing and dancing. Mr Burt gave us our next instructions which were TTB. Toilet, Teeth, Bed. We said our good nights and went off to our cabin. Each day was getting better and better! Day 4, here we come!!!

To Be Continued......

Day 2- Riverside Camp at Willow Park

Waking up in my cabin and seeing all my friends felt unreal. I couldn’t believe it was the holidays, and that I was spending the first week here at Willow Park with all of my friends. Anyway, we woke up and we had to do fitness! You didn’t know what to expect when it came to fitness. It could be a long run on the beach, cyber coach (Jump Jam) or even running up the stairs. In my case the only thing I wanted to do was cyber coach which was a lot like jump jam. Mr Burt decided to be nice and chose Cyber Coach.

Our first fun activity for day two was WATER GAMES!!! Peter came up with four water games for us to play. My favourite one was Protect Your President. In our teams we had to select a president and protect him/her. P.O.B’s (Princesses of Bel-Air) president was Khaia. The aim of the game was to wet the other teams president yet, keep your own president safe and dry. But there was one small problem, no one knew who was the president of each team. Well that was the aim of the game, but when I looked around, it looked like everyone was playing G.Y.O.B (Get Your Own Back) water styles though. So, I joined in with everyone and started throwing sponges at anyone I saw.

My highlight of day two though was Spotlight mixed with Capture the Flag. We were given glow sticks, we like to call them our life force. Our mission was to get to the other end where Jarred was. Once we were there, he would draw a mark on our hand and we had to go back and try and do it again. Sounds easy! But, on our way to Jarred there would be some obstacles known as the leaders with the torches. If they caught us we would have to give our life force (Glow Stick) to them and go back to the hospital, where the nurse will give us another life force (Glow Stick). It was easy for us to make it to the other side because we played at night and it was hard for the leaders to see. Ashleigh and I made it once and we were really happy. The hooter was blown and we went back into the Rimu room and tallied up the score. I can’t remember which girls and boys team won but all I know was that everyone had fun.

It was time for us to get ready for the TTB (Toilet Teeth Bed). Once everyone was finish it was lights off, and once my head hit that pillow, I was out. Being sooo tired made me be the first person to fall asleep in our cabin. I knew tomorrow was going to be another fun an exciting day for us!!!

Term 3 Highlights!!!

Term 3 is almost over and its time to reflect. Its been a great term and so far it has been my favourite. Here are my top 3 highlights of this term...

Netball, Netball, Netball. This year’s season was one of my favourite years because we had great team members. We all worked together in every game and we ended up coming 3rd in our pool.  But, it wasn't just the team members that made the team feel like a team. It was our manager Ms Squires and our two coaches Millie and Timmi. They were so strict on us but it was all worth it. To celebrate the success in all our netball teams we had a shared lunch. Everyone that was involved with netball this year came. We also had a short prize giving as well. I would like to thank Ms Squires, Millie and Timmi.

This term we are having a production which is called ‘Sixty The Quest’. It is to celebrate our schools 60th anniversary. My friends and I have started up a dance group that hopefully will be performing in the production. Practising the dance with my friends has actually been a highlight for me. I really like dancing and the fact that I am in three dance groups that are performing in the production, makes me feel excited. I can’t wait to share my talent.

We had a year 7&8 girls basketball team go to the Eastern Zone and came 1st overall. Miss Va'afusuaga took 10 girls including myself to the ASB Stadium in Selwyn College. We played 6 very tough games against all the schools in our area. I think the hardest game was against Parnell. I'm just happy that we are going to Auckland Champs.

Well, this term is almost over. I have had so many highlights but those are my top 3. Production is coming very soon and I am really nervous. Term 4 here we come!

Basketball Team!!

Manaiakalani Student Leadership Conference

It was an ordinary Friday at school. I arrived at 8:10, as usual. I was helping out with assembly, as usual. But something different that was happening today was the Manaiakalani Student Leadership Conference held at Tamaki College. All of the schools in the Manaiakalani programme had to choose a few students to attend this. I was part of the lucky group of students to represent our school, Pt England. The 6 students were Shoal, Makayla, Crusader, Gabriel, Kendrix and myself. Unfortunately, Kendrix couldn't make it so we decided to get my good friend Huelo-Ata to replace him.

The conference was really fun. It was about designing our future and part of the reason why us kids were going, was because it was OUR FUTURE. It wasn't just all fun, there were some parts that were inspiring. For example; Andrew Patterson's presentation that was about chasing our dreams inspired many people. Even ME! Here is a short reflection on the day.

My favourite part of the conference was the Samsung Scavenger Hunt with Telecom. Although our table didn't win, I still had fun playing with the smartphones. I think we could of won if we worked together.
Anyway, my second highlight was listening to Andrew Patterson speak and share his message with us. To chase our dream. One of the things in his presentation that was really interesting was seeing pictures of one of the Google Campuses  I found out that if you worked there you could get free stuff. Anyway, Andrew Patterson also showed us a video on TED Talks. It was a 12 year old boy named Thomas Suarez. Thomas is an app developer. The reason why he showed us this was because he was trying to tell us that we can chase our dream no matter the age. Here is the video of Thomas on TED Talks CLICK!

I can't wait to see what the future is going to look like. I hope the Manaiakalani programme has gotten enough information from us to help them with it. Thank You to everyone who organised the event!

Cross Country 2013!

Today was the day that most people from Pt England School were waiting for. But for me and my friends, it was the day we wish we were sick.  I arrived at school and the sun was blazing down. I knew today was the day. I walked into class and the topic ‘Cross Country’ was the topic everyone was talking about.

Time flew by quickly and it was time to get changed into our house colours. I’m in Mataatua which is green. I had a green t-shirt and a green jumper. When everyone finished getting changed they had to wait patiently for the school bell to ring, and when it did we had to sit down in our groups.

I was just about to sit down with the year 8 girls but Jasmine, (Helper For Mataatua) called me and my friend Brooklyn up to help them with their chants. We huddled together to figure out what our chants were. I looked at our opponents Te Arawa (Red), Tainui (Blue), and Takitimu (Yellow), and they were all huddled together as well. Finally Ms Va’afusuaga introduced our house colours to the school and we said our chants. At first we struggled, but we ended up saying it loud and proud. The other teams were loud as well, but I don’t think they were better than us. After that we were told to cheer for all the people that are in Mataatua. The 5 year old boys were first then went to the 5 year old girls then went on and on.

Watching people run made me nervous. It was like a thousand butterflies were invading my stomach. It was finally our turn to run. We stood behind the start line and got ready. Suddenly Mr Burt blew the hooter and we started running. I looked at the back and found out that I was coming last so I speeded up. As I pasted some of the year 8 boys, I could hear some people cheering me on. I continued to run the best I could.

My end result was 7th place. I am happy with my placing. I tried my best and I had fun. My highlight was definitely the mudslide and the big puddles. I hope next year, college’s cross country will be as fun as this years.

Obesity

REPORT ON OBESITY

By 2020, one third of the people in the world will be obese.

Obesity is when you are very fat or very overweight. When you are obese you are at risk of major health problems.
CAUSE OF OBESITY:
The cause of obesity is when you have an addiction to junk food and fizzy drinks, that contains high levels of sugar, salt and fat. Also the lack of exercise will not burn much calories so the fat remains in your body.

EFFECT OF OBESITY:
Obesity causes major health problems like heart attacks, heart disease, diabetes, knee pain, short of breath etc. The effects of obesity is so bad it can kill you at a young age.

FACTS:
It is said by a scientist that in as little as three years time,  half the US population will be obese. 100,000 people die because of obesity. Evansville, Indiana is officially named America’s fattest city. New Zealand has the third highest rate of obesity in the world.

Healthy Sandwich

All the classrooms in the intermediate block were given a task to create a healthy sandwich. People from every class were split up into groups of 3-5 and were asked to plan and create their sandwiches. Then in the end of the term the best group from every class are going to have a cook of called ‘MHKR’ or My Healthy Kitchen Rules. Hopefully my group which consists of Shoal, Ashleigh, Tauwhare, Jasmine and myself are going to create the healthiest, delicious sandwich ever.

Our sandwich has brown bread, cocktail sausages, lettuce and Mayo. We call it The Scrumptious, Delicious Club Sandwich. Hopefully our sandwich will be picked as the winning group. Fingers Crossed!!!

Will.I.Am Visits OUR SCHOOL

WilI.I.Am visits Pt England School from SchoolTV on Vimeo.

INTRO:
You may have noticed our school on TV as well as the one and only Will.I.Am. The reason for this is that Will.I.Am gave us a HUGE koha. A koha is a special present. That's what we were given. A $100,000.00 check for the manaiakalani program  I know it is going to go for good use like our net-books and other things.  The story of Will.I.Am coming is pretty long. Let me start from the beginning, it all began with an assembly on Wednesday 08 of May....

STORY BEGINS:
Everyone was waiting anxiously for Mr Burt to walk into the hall with either good or bad news. He finally walked in and told everyone that we were having a very very special visitor coming in tomorrow. Apparently he was more important then John Key. I mean, who is more important then the prime minister. The sad thing though was that Mr Burt wasn't able to tell us who the special guest was. If he did tell us who it was then the special guest wouldn't come. But, the only thing that we were told was that he was really into music. Straight away the person in my head was Stan Walker.... Or the x factor judges. When our short assembly was finish all the prefects had to go to Mr Burt for a quick meeting.

When all the prefects arrived we were given important tasks for Thursday.  Some people were given the task to take pictures while the others had to greet the special guest. Me on the other hand had the most difficult task of them all. I had to say another Tongan prayer! When I was told I was so nervous and excited at the same time. When Mr Burt was talking to us, someone asked if we could find out who the special guest was. You would think that he would tell us, but NO!!! The only thing he told us was to not even talk about it. Not in class or with our friends... When we finished our meeting though, we went back to class.

I went home and thought about it. I'm sure everyone did. Then on 3 news it said that Will.I.Am was in New Zealand and that he was going to come back to do a full tour. The thought came into my head that the special guest was going to be Will. I. Am.... You never know... But then I said to myself 'naaa.... He is way to famous to come to our school. I mean, out of all the schools in New Zealand there is like 1/100 chance that he would come to our school.'

It was Thursday. The day everyone was waiting for. The day when the special guest was going to come and visit our school. It was basically the main thing on everyone's mind. Straight after morning tea everyone went into the hall for Mr Burt to tell us the big news and other things like to not stand up when we see the guest and to sing our school song properly. But everyone was waiting for the big news. Even I was. He finally got up to the part when he was going to tell us. Who is it??? Who is it???Who is it??? It was the only question in my head. "Who knows the band Black Eyed Peas?" Mr Burt said to us.
"Or  course... Will.I.Am" people were saying to there mates beside them.
Everyone knew now so the only thing that they were waiting for was the actual visitor him self. It took a while because of traffic but he arrived.

TO BE CONTINUED....

A Tragic Day At Boston

The Boston Marathon.... Thats when it happened.... The day that was supposed to be all about celebrating the people that had just crossed the finish line, but no... It was the day when fear had entered the large city.....

"Breaking news... The Boston Marathon has just been bomb!" My attention went straight to the TV. Usually I would take no notice of the news, but a bomb in Boston. That reminded me of a terrible man. I won't mention his name because many people worship him and I think that it might me bad if I do.  Anyway, the bomb.... It was an unusual thing to hear about but, it was true! Three people died and more then 170 people were injured. It was not good.

Luckily, the FBI found out some useful information. On the city cameras they noticed two people with strange bags. It looked similar to the bags that contained the bombs. They knew that they had found there suspects. A father and his son.  The father died because of the bomb and his son.... Well, he survived but was caught in the end which was great news. Hopefully, the FBI can make him spill some useful information.

My prayers definitely go towards the people in Boston. Its not nice what the two suspects did. There are questions in my mind like.... Were these people some how related to Osama Bin Laden? Was anyone else part of the bombing? More questions that hopefully can be answered.... I know its not only me that feel for these people, there are a lot more, even celebrities. I just don't know why these men would do such a thing. Its horrible.... Anyway people in Boston, I have a message for YOU!!! Stay safe and always remember that you are loved by people around the world, and that Gods with you every step of the way. I hope you guys get past this heavy object in your life! Also R.I.P to the people that died because of the bomb.

If I could be someone else, I would be . . .

What if you got to choose who you wanted to be for a day. You could be an actor, celebrity, sports person,  billionaire or even a homeless person. Its something everyone has in their mind. It might not happen like you want it to happen but just imagine...

If I could be someone else, I would be a celebrity. There are many celebrities like Brad Pitt, Beyonce, Leona Lewis, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and my favourite Taylor Lautner from Twilight.  Being a celebrity has positive and negative things to it like for example. Positive- I could inspire lots of people but the negative point is definitely NO PRIVACY!!! Paparazzi everywhere. But if some celebrities can get away from it, I think I can as well. I would sing to people in the hospital and make them feel better.

Well, that is who I would be and I wouldn't change my mind. People have different ideas but mine is to be a celebrity. Have a wonderful day everyone and thanks for reading my post!!!

A Poem Lesson With Joshua Iosefo

In February we had the privilege of working with the one and only Joshua Iosefo.  It was a great opportunity for us to learn how to write a great poem. Brown Brother the poem that made him famous has definitely inspired me to the be the best I can. If you want to learn how to write a masterpiece, continue reading.

So, the first thing to wake up our minds was to write a short poem about a sandwich. It could be a magical sandwich, the tastiest sandwich ever or the most awful sandwich in the universe. My title was ‘Is It Really A Magical Sandwich’. We started writing and when everyone finished we recited our poem to each other. This helped Joshua see how we write and how we use our words. We were in a small group which was easier for Joshua. Crusader, Darius, Shoal, Makayla and myself were all happy that we were chosen.

After writing about our sandwich we got serious and wrote about anything we wanted to write about. Crusader wrote about the dirty south, Darius wrote about his mum, Shoal wrote about music and Makayla wrote about art. I thought and thought until I realized what the perfect subject was.... Who I inspire.

After working with Joshua Iosefa we finally finished and added a bit of action into it. It was fun working with Joshua and I would like to say a big thank you to Joshua for taking the time to help us write an amazing poem. This is my poem that I wrote with Joshua...

He could sing to me every night,
and when he is finished he could turn off my light.
He could teach me dance moves when I am bored,
and if someone comes to bully me, he would roar.
But there is one sad thing about this person.
Hes not with us today and that's not awesome.
His music was black or white
and thrilling was his game,
but now that he is gone the world will never be the same.
A short conclusion is what i’ll say,
and its RIP MJ...

Softball Tournament Yr 7&8 Girls

"Dear God...... Amen." Jay'lee prayed for us while we were sitting inside the Tamaki College van. She prayed that we could came first, make sure no one got injured and that Miss Va'afusuaga (manager) could drive us all the way to Shore Rd in Remuera for our softball tournament safely. We were all happy and excited to go to our tournament. Except, when we looked outside the sun was scorching down on the van. We were nervous that all our energy might be wasted on our first came, but Miss V gave us hope. She said our first game is against Tamaki Primary and that they aren't that good and we don't really need to play our best. Our smiles were back on. We started singing and making cheers while Ms V started the car. We were on our way to our softball tournament.

We made it to Remuera safe and sound. The thing on my mind was if we could make history again. If you don't know what I am talking about, well let me explain. Last year the yr 7 girls (Which is the yr 8 girls this year) were the first girls team in Pt England to make it to Auckland Champs. Sadly when we played we weren't as good as the other team and in the end we came 4th. But we had loads of fun. This year our goal is to think about one game at a time. We weren't allowed to skip all the way to finals and think about that. We had to play one game at a time. Just like Wreck It Ralph. Anyway, back to softball. We were so excited everyone got a glove and ball and we started throwing it around. You could tell by our faces that we were serious about this. Our eyes were on the ball.

"Strike 3, you're out" the referee said. Jay'Lee our captain kept on encouraging us. When three people got out we would swap and the batting team would now be fielding. Our fielding skills were great and our batting skills were just as good as our fielding skills. We knew we got this is the bag. BUT, one of the girls from Tamaki Primary scored a home run which made it equal. It was our turn to bat and it was 4 all. Jay'Lee was batting and we knew we could win this. She was focusing on the ball. When the pitcher pitched the ball Jay'Lee smashed it. It went so far that the other team struggled to find it. Finally the outfielder threw it in and Jay'Lee made it just in time. We cheered. It was Brooklyns turn to bat but it was time. We check the score and sadly it was still 4 all. We lost but Ms V explained the rules to us. Both teams needed to bat in order to make the points change. Anyway, it was 4 all and it was just our first game so we weren't really dissapointed.

We had many games. Some were easy and some were difficult. Bailey Road was really hard but I think they weren't working as a team. The pitcher named Pearl played for a club and she pitched just as fast as the boys from our school. It was hard for us to hit the ball. Luckily we got 0-0. Our fielding skills saved us in that game. Each game got harder and harder when finally we made it in the finals against Bailey Road again. We won that game because we used teamwork and cooperation. Now we are going to the Auckland Champs and we get to represent East side. As I said in the beginning we made history and Ms V told us we made history again. It was the first time both year 7&8 girls made it to Auckland Champs. We are so happy that both teams are going to represent East Side.

2013 Tamaki Tech Begins

“I hope this year of tech is going to be better than last years.” My friend Brooklyn said to me. Last year was a bit bland because we had a lot of naughty boys, and I mean a lot. This year is different than last years because instead of the year 7&8 going separately, we go as a class. We still go on Thursdays though. When we get there we depart to our separate classes. There are 3 classes for us to try out like Food Tech, Hard Materials and Graphics. Graphics is new to everyone this year. I am in hard materials.

Mr Grundy teaches hard materials. He can be a bit grumpy but its only when you don’t listen. Hard material is hard work. If you get the measurements right then theres a high chance your final product will be good. I am looking forward for this year in hard material because I have experienced what it was like in Mr Grundy’s class before. This year my goal is to make a good looking money box. It has to open and I have to be able to put money in it. I hope I can achieve.

In food tech, Ms Heka teaches everyone new and old recipes. It is really fun because in the end you get to take it home and share it or eat it by yourself. Like always, I would share someone with my mum. We work in groups of 4 or 5. When we are finish we write it down in our book so we are able to make it by ourselves at home, in school or anywhere really.

Graphis, is taught by Mr Pineda or you could call him Mr Nobel. Hearing from my friends, I heard it wasn’t bad. They are entering a competition and if they win they get a whole art supplie. They are really trying their best so that they can win.

This is the end of my story about Tamaki Tech but I’m sure there are going to be a lot more stories about it.
