ANZAC

Australian and New Zealand Army Corps other wise known as ANZAC day, is going to be tomorrow 25 of April. It is a national day for both New Zealand and Australia. This is when we honour and thank the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. They fought at Gallipoli during World War I.

People wear a red poppy which is a symbol of war remembrance. It is said that the soldiers died in the fields of Flanders. While thousands of bodies were on the muddy ground, poppies sprang up. I you look around you will notice many people wearing them for ANZAC day.

Thursday morning some people from our church LDS (Latter-Day Saints) are going down to the Auckland Museum to the memorial service. We are going to pay our respect to the people that served our country. We know that they did it well. Everyone please come to honour those people that served our country!!!

  1. Thanks for this post Vivienne. It is lovely to see the next generation of young people paying respect to the meaning of ANZAC Day. The Dawn Parade is a very special service. I hope you enjoyed it.

  2. Hey Vivienne
My Grandad who I love very much was wounded in the war you are writing about. He passed on to me a horror of war and a great respect for the people who served their country so honourably and risked their lives. Grandad came home (or I wouldn't be here, as my mum was born after he came back to us) and I was privileged to spend a great deal of time with him. He still occasionally had nightmares about it all. I'm so glad you are going to pay your respects to him and all the other wonderful people who have served their country to keep us safe.
